Missoula Karen
Karen is a name shared by thousands of intelligent, kind and beautiful girls and women around the world, but if you happen to share it too then chances are you have experienced difficulty when trying to buy something in stores or call companies – usually as part of a frustrating transaction where management tells them they don’t need someone on their side to represent your needs properly.
But, how can you go about complaining to store management without coming off as one? In this episode of Tell Us Something, Missoula native and fifth-generation Montanan Karen McNenny shares her advice for getting what you want out of customer service interactions.
Her suggestions include approaching customer service staff in a polite way and politely asking to speak with a supervisor. Make sure you’re clear on why your issue is significant and why it shouldn’t go ignored.
As with anything, knowing your rights when it comes to customer service is also key. Montana residents can access the Better Business Bureau website for information regarding consumer complaints against companies. Furthermore, keeping the store’s contact details handy could come in handy should a problem arise and need filing.
Alternatively, if your complaint involves specific violations by a company, a Montana attorney can help file a civil suit on your behalf. Furthermore, asking for copies of your transaction records from them can prove that their actions violated your rights.
