This forum now boasts over 435,000 subscribers and often focuses on stereotypical Karen behavior such as those demanding to speak to managers before receiving good service, anti-vaccine advocates and those engaging in racist microaggressions.

These types of behaviors can damage a business’s reputation, so it’s vitally important to keep a level head when responding to Karens who complain. Begin by explaining politely that until they stop engaging in loud or aggressive behaviors you cannot offer help or services.

Your customers could also be creating issues for your business; but rather than be confrontational about it, explain that you’re committed to creating an exceptional experience and ensure they remain satisfied.

She may have been right in attacking what she described as the “smokey lollipop,” yet her actions revealed both entitlement and gender-based fears related to Black men.
