Since 2010, middle-aged white women who discriminate and enforce unfair unwritten rules on others has been an extremely contentious topic. While it’s always rewarding to witness one of these Karens get what she deserves, it can also be very entertaining watching them fail spectacularly.
Here are a selection of stories from Reddit about Karens who received what was due them.
1. A Karen in a Restaurant
Karens can be more than an irritation for service workers; they can also be deeply racist and intolerant. Take this man, for instance, who refused to stop harassing black passengers on London Underground in 2020; eventually his harassment led to him receiving what was coming: an explosive punch from another Karen. These types are so ignorant of their privilege, which often gets called out online; it’s even more rewarding when these incidents get the punishment they deserve from other Karens themselves.
One such story took place at Karen’s Diner in Brisbane. This diner combined comedy experience allows its guests to hurl insults at staff members. Their menu offers food and drinks named for Karen herself such as Basic Karen Burgers, Deep Fried Karen Chicken Sandwiches and 90s Karen Spiked Coke Floats – among many other offerings.
Staff should rise to the challenge, yet sometimes don’t. Body shaming customers or making racist and sexist jokes has happened before and one man even posted to Tik Tok about being told his hairline was crooked by diners is unacceptable behavior in any restaurant setting.
Some diners have attempted to put an end to this trend, with Karen vowing that she would quit if management continued promoting men over women and giving a promotion because one man held a bachelor’s degree while she didn’t. Although it’s encouraging that common sense is being introduced into the workplace, it would be even better if those responsible were reduced in status by way of having lessened entitlement attitudes taken down a notch or two.
2. A Karen in a Fast Food Restaurant
Karens can often be found at fast food restaurants because they demand instantaneous service and will use any excuse possible to justify being above the law and in control of every aspect of their experience. Unfortunately, however, such entitled women can wreak havoc on businesses and ruin everyone else’s experience dining there – this particular Karen didn’t take her discontent with the waiter lying down and decided to make more noise than necessary when communicating it with him.
Karen came into the restaurant and requested that her food be divided up and bagged into three separate bags, which is an easy request that can be done politely. Instead, Karen chose to get angry with the waiter by shouting profanities at him for not complying with her wish – no reason for such outburst and she certainly did not contribute positively to business operations!
After leaving, she went back to her car and took out her cell phone to call the manager of this chain restaurant – not an ideal decision in any business, yet this woman clearly didn’t demonstrate great judgement.
Karen was eventually let go and her behavior led her into even deeper trouble. She became known for threatening lawsuits against any business she came in contact with over seemingly minor matters and would make remarks like: I could just live off these settlements.
TikTok users saw the story of Karen go viral after someone recorded this clip and stood up for waiter by publicly criticizing this Karen for being rude towards him.
3. A Karen in a Hotel
Working in the service industry can be tough at times. Some individuals have no clue how to treat an employee properly or don’t care. Luckily, there are people who take great pleasure in taking these Karens down a peg – with often hilarious results!
One such Karen recently made headlines after a TikTok video went viral featuring her hostile interaction with a hotel night auditor, Haiz. Haiz can be seen working behind the counter while an unknown male ‘Karen’ verbally abuses and harasses her from out of view.
At first, Karen appears upset that Haiz is asking guests for physical ID as part of his security protocols, however his irritation quickly turns into anger when Karen accuses her of discrimination and calls police in order to have the man removed from the property.
TikTok users were outraged over Karen’s toxic behavior, with millions viewings over time. A video uploaded by user ‘u/jayjayisme’ of their visit at this hotel and witnessing it went viral, garnering millions of views already. Even though they were guests themselves, they wanted to bring attention to just how dangerous and toxic Karen’s actions can be.
Other Reddit users have joined in, agreeing that Karen deserves to be kicked out of the hotel. It was quite entertaining watching all these comments come in and say what everyone already thought: that these Karens will eventually receive what they truly deserve.
4. A Karen in a Casino
Karens have earned themselves a reputation for being rude and annoying, yet sometimes justice prevails. A Reddit user named u/iamjayjayisme recently shared their interactions with a Karen in the r/MaliciousCompliment subreddit and everything turned out well for both parties involved.
Karen had been ignoring her boss’ emails and reading job description updates sent out to all employees, in addition to not possessing a bachelor’s degree required by most jobs in her field. Eventually, her employer caught on and fired her; as a result of their decision, Karen incurred massive legal costs that eventually put her bankrupt – an experience learned by all involved parties involved.
Karens are among the worst offenders when it comes to racism; these people constantly complain and make people around them miserable without regard for who gets hurt in the process. Luckily, their misdeeds often get them what they deserve in the end – it can be entertaining watching their downward trajectory unfold!
One Karen who received what she truly deserved was a white woman caught on video being extremely racist in a casino. As seen in the footage, her behavior will forever be remembered but was ultimately short-lived due to an assailant who seemed to knock her out quickly. We hope that Karen learns from her mistake and stops being rude and annoying in future; hopefully doing so would result in her experiencing a much richer life experience.
5. A Karen in a Sports Event
The name Karen often brings up associations of an entitled white woman behaving badly towards service industry workers and bullying them into submission, yet actual people with this name exist as well – hence why so many stories about Karens getting what they truly deserve have surfaced over time.
