The Original Poster (OP) had been shopping at Walmart, but one day his experience became unpleasant when two women stood in his path while trying to purchase his groceries at checkout.
The OP decided to show his displeasure with these women by constantly reshelving their grocery carts as they shopped – which caused some chaos on the shelves but left her uncertain whether or not her action were excessive.
OP’s Response
In her initial posting, the OP described her experience at a local store. While shopping candy, she found herself surprised when a young girl began screaming loudly with tears streaming down her cheeks. To try and soothe the situation, she decided to play a prank on the girl. While it briefly worked, eventually it wore thin; soon afterwards, they ran into each other again, this time more out of breath than before and distracted with their vested dog who soon distracted the little one; yet this memorable moment quickly vanished leaving her wondering about what came next?
OP’s Update
OP was strolling down the drink aisle at Walmart when an entitled lady approached him, grabbed his arm, and started pulling. Although OP told her he didn’t work there, she continued pulling and eventually punched him in his chest before refusing to stop pulling. OP asked the lady to cease but she would not stop. His manager contacted police for him; when OP declined pressing charges against her he stated he was fine with this situation.
As it appears, this was a repeat offense for OP. She claims that this same woman had previously threatened and made racist comments to her; when this time around he wasn’t able to stop her, so decided on one course of action: punch her in the face.
OP’s Lesson
“Karen” made headlines online for engaging in low-stakes behaviors such as leaning on cars and coughing at a bagel shop – some incidents may have even been perceived as racist.
Recently, the term “Karen” has become more and more widely used to refer to middle-aged white women who appear entitled. This name has come to symbolize any activity seen as rude in public such as calling police on Black people and other white people and trying to reserve parking spots for themselves.
One viral video featured a woman calling police on a Black man in Central Park was labeled Karen; another used it to refer to an individual who challenged another individual at a convenience store in Sacramento to call her that name.
These women, unlike regular customers, are looking for ways to make themselves feel better about whatever may be bothering them – including proving their entitlement. With an extremely strong ego and limited attention span, these women won’t stop until they achieve what they desire.
As children are notoriously poor listeners and tend to lash out when things don’t go their way, the world would likely be much happier if more adults would listen more often than they do now.
As can be imagined, Karen was experiencing difficulty. Her anger and frustration had taken hold, leading her to argue with the employee and refuse to listen to what OP was telling her.
He decided to do something about it. Taking two carts away, he started moving them away from her car – but as he was leaving she began shouting again at him! So he had to tell her she was wrong.
He tried to explain that she was wasting her time, but she did not listen at all. In fact, she became even more angry with him when he explained she should be at work rather than wasting his time by engaging in argument with a worker.
OP’s Final Thoughts
Nearly one year later, the original poster (OP) remains delighted by his feat and holds no regrets about how events unfolded. He shared an update in the Petty Revenge subreddit and received widespread kudos. One employee reminded him that he was their best-kept secret at their job – which wasn’t surprising considering he already held the record for most frequent store visits! Not bad for a lone wolf like himself! He excelled in customer service, receiving an extra bonus for being the most frequent buyer on his shift. He was proud to be part of Walmart Family; unfortunately, however, keeping top employees is often hard. Trolls often appear demanding free products or vacation trips for their children – but fortunately for the OP he had an exceptional boss who knew how to handle these situations with grace.
