Recently, middle-aged white women have become a social media meme for their impatience with minor inconveniences. They demand to speak with managers or police officers about these matters.
Karens have been filmed getting knocked out before. These incidents often stem from racial profiling or cultural redlining, but can also simply be motivated by plain old entitlement.
1. A teen was kicked out of a restaurant for calling a waitress a “fat slag”
The Fat Slags were a British comic strip published in Viz magazine that featured two enormous women from Northern England who were both highly sexualized and obese. Created by Graham Dury in 1989, these characters first made their appearance two decades later in 1989.
The two girls are unrepentantly vulgar and crass, living a lifestyle of overeating and shagging. Additionally, they rely on their sexuality to get through life.
They leave their hometown in Fulchester, North England and travel to London where they are noticed by a media mogul. He falls in love with their exuberant attitude toward life and they quickly become overnight sensations.
Their lifestyle and extreme body shapes are a mockery of ladette culture, which many believe to be responsible for Britain’s rising obesity and health problems. Their sexual acts are unrestricted, they frequently binge drink and they’re known to jump on delivery men or workers in pursuit of instant gratification.
Once they leave their hometown of Fulchester, the sexually-obsessed girls move to London where they are noticed by an American media tycoon. He gets very excited by their outlandish lifestyle and starts showering them with gifts – leading them to be labeled Fat Admirers.
He becomes obsessed with them and they begin to overeat. This leads to them being affectionately known as “Big Beautiful Women,” or BBWs for short.
Once they appear on TV, Sean Cooley (Jerry O’Connell) becomes intrigued and decides to make them the face of his company. He turns them into a driving force behind fashion and pop culture that quickly become global sensations.
The Fat Slags lead a life that is unabashedly vulgar and caustic, parodying British ladette culture in every way possible. Their sexual activities are unrestricted, often leading to them leaping on delivery men or other men for immediate gratification.
After leaving their hometown of Fulchester, the obese individuals move to London where they are spotted on TV by an American media mogul. He gets very excited by their larger-than-life attitude and begins indulging in their food – earning them the nickname of “Big Beautiful Women”, or BBWs for short.
2. A woman was slapped
On a Brooklyn subway, a woman was rudely slapped on the head – an incident which may have been first-of-its-kind. The victim had taken pictures of a man taking pictures of women on board the train when he became irate and slapped her. Luckily, she wasn’t seriously injured in this ordeal.
Police reported the slap as “not particularly pleasant”, and arrested the man. This incident took place Friday afternoon at 12:10 p.m. on the R train heading towards Court Street station in Brooklyn and involved a female passenger.
Although the slap itself was not particularly pleasant, its context made it all the more noteworthy: it occurred on a train full of women and witnesses were present. Furthermore, this act wasn’t an isolated incident but part of an overall assault against her that saw her physically assaulted multiple times. After police investigation and arrest, a restraining order has been issued against the suspect.
Even though the incident has been resolved, it does not provide comfort to either the woman involved or anyone else involved in it.

One year after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars, there remains controversy over whether or not his behavior should be tolerated. Rock himself addressed this incident in a live stand-up special following his appearance at the show.
He described it as a life-altering moment. He had been struggling with feelings of unworthiness and the slap helped him realize this truth.
Smith said after leaving jail that he still thought about that slap daily. He believes it has had a profound effect on him, and promised never to do anything to hurt anyone again.
Later, he appeared on the Today show to talk about how embarassed he felt by the incident. As he tried to unravel what had occurred, it proved difficult. Still remembering how it made him feel and how much it hurt, he expressed gratitude for all of the support from fans and friends alike.
After the show, Smith shared a message on his Twitter account. He expressed that he didn’t understand why he had been slapped and was grateful for the chance to make amends. Furthermore, Smith pledged his presence for his son and made it clear that he loved his family deeply and wouldn’t fear speaking up if needed.
He expressed his gratitude to those who stood up for him and called him out on social media. He noted that he was a human being who cared about others, and hoped this incident could be put behind him.
4. A woman was slapped
A woman in Kosovo was repeatedly slapped repeatedly by a nurse while at a care home. Footage of the attack was shared on social media platforms.
One nurse employee working at Orenda residence for elderly in Peje was seen repeatedly striking a woman in the face. This incident was recorded by one of the women living there who was filming everything.
It’s a shocking scene that has made headlines in Albania. The nurse’s colleague was filming the attack and can be heard laughing as she sexually assaults the woman.
Although not the first time a woman has been slapped in a care home, it was the first time it was captured on video. The video was posted on Facebook page in Albania and the victim said she felt deeply hurt by the experience.
She was then slapped while holding her hands out in front of her and the man ran away.
In an interview with the BBC, the man who slapped the woman admitted taking pictures of other women on board and was furious when she did so. Eventually he resigned his job and claimed he had lost it.
He is currently being sought by police.
The incident was captured on camera and has gone viral.
It has been widely condemned, with some labeling it a violent stunt and others dismissing it as an absurdity. Regardless, this incendiary and disturbing act deserves serious consideration.
Slaps have long been a part of Hollywood history, from Bette Davis and Joan Crawford to Cher in Moonstruck and Michael Caine in Groundhog Day. Slaps also play an important role in popular culture today.
Slaps used to be considered an offensive act, but they have become more widely accepted in modern culture. Movies often feature them as a means of relieving tension between characters or as an indication that a man is rejecting her in the moment.
Real life slaps have also been used as a form of discipline to correct an unruly child or parent. Christos Tsiolkas’ novel The Slap, published in 2008, caused much division and controversy as it debated whether or not physical punishment was an acceptable method for parenting children.
