1. Black Karen

If you’re reading this article, chances are you have some familiarity with Karen the meme that has taken social media by storm in recent years. Her name has become associated with someone who is arrogant and prejudiced.

The exact origins of this term remain uncertain, but Vox reports it was coined on Reddit when a user gained notoriety for posting disparaging remarks about his ex-wife. Since then, it has come to be used mainly as an insult against women who are privileged and snobby.

Some have argued that such behavior is inherently sexist, reflecting a society in which women are judged much harsher than men. While this may be true, one could also argue that the popularity of the term has brought attention to white women’s racism.

White women are increasingly holding other white women accountable for systemic oppression. They’re speaking out on social media, organizing “diversity panels,” and joining Black Lives Matter protests.

As a result, there has been an uptick in videos showing black people being harassed by white women. These clips usually depict rude behavior towards a black person in public and often get recorded for posterity.

Recent video footage showing a white woman screaming at two Black men on the subway was shocking. She degraded them by calling them pieces of trash and garbage before getting up from her seat and assaulting one of the men with an offensive gesture, including hitting him in the face while trying to take his bag.

It’s not uncommon for these types of incidents to go viral, sparking intense controversy. Some have even led to justice – one white woman being fired and her son arrested after harassing a Black man in a parking garage.

Another viral video depicted a white woman calling police on an African American man for asking her to leash her dog in Central Park during May. After the video went viral, she apologized and stated she wasn’t racist; however, her actions put a spotlight on how police can be dangerous to black people in general.

2. White Karen

If you spend any time online, chances are you’ve seen plenty of humorous videos featuring Karens. This term has come to be associated with aggressive pettiness, self-entitlement and middle class arrogance; usually applied to white middle aged women who become confrontational when their needs aren’t met – demanding endless amounts of things, likely neglecting vaccinations for their kids and sometimes calling the police on black people who did nothing wrong.

Karens are often seen wearing short blonde hair and known for their aggressive, petulant behavior and lack of humor. They became particularly prevalent during the lead-up to the pandemic and have recently made it into mainstream culture.

A recent trend on the internet has caused much outrage and controversy. The term ‘Karen’ has come to be associated with aggressive, self-important white women who are out of control; often documented on cell phone footage for all to see.

It’s understandable why this nickname has become so popular – it implies that you are entitled to shout at people and make demands without facing any consequences. Furthermore, it implies a deep-seated intolerant attitude, an unwillingness to acknowledge other people’s valid points, and an inability to accept disagreement.

In the past, ‘Karen’ has been a slang term for white women; however, it has only recently become a viral meme on the internet. While its exact origins remain unclear, it fits into an ongoing trend that emphasizes white women’s racial privilege and gendered fear of non-white people.

Due to this phenomenon, Karen has replaced another slang term for racially naive white women – ‘Becky’. Both terms reflect white people’s sense of entitlement and fear of non-white people; however, Karen emphasizes cisgender privilege in particular: the power to police other people of color.

If you’ve seen enough video clips of Karens on social media, then you know they tend to get out of control and cause a major uproar. They scold, spit at, cursed at and pointed guns at others – all in an open and obnoxious manner. This type of harassment should never be condoned but has gained widespread recognition. If you want to be part of the movement towards ending it – be aware of what causes their meltdowns so you can help put a stop to them once and for all!

3. Karen Mills & Karen Morgan

The internet is full of humorous videos featuring Karens. However, some aren’t all that funny – some may even be racist and sexist in nature.

One such video is “The Karen,” a viral TikTok dance that has been viewed over 4.6 million times in two days and been praised by celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

Karen is a term used to describe an entitled white woman who uses her privilege to make demands on others without considering the consequences for those affected. It has become part of the sexism and racism conversation, though its exact meaning remains obscure.

Karen stands in for other terms like “white girl,” which have a specific connotation. It can be used to refer to an entitled white woman but also implies ignorance of other cultures or needs.

Though its source is uncertain, it appears to have originated with the 2004 movie “Mean Girls.” Although this term has been around since 2004, its popularity online has only recently grown.

The term is usually applied to middle-aged white women who exhibit certain entitlement and ignorance. They’re usually depicted driving SUVs, sporting acrylic nails, and subscribing to a newspaper.

She often exhibits an odd asymmetry in her hair, allowing it to hang over one side of her face. This is often coupled with a loud voice and the desire to speak with someone above her paygrade.

Karens have been known to drive SUVs, sport acrylic nails and sport asymmetrical haircuts. Additionally, they frequently call the police on Black people in their neighborhoods.

Karen is a controversial figure in American society, often seen as an arrogant white woman who doesn’t consider the consequences of her actions. At a time when women have made great strides toward equality and acceptance, Karen serves as reminder that not all good deeds make headlines.
